Drawer runners, also known as drawer slides or glides, are an essential component of any kitchen cabinet with drawers. They are responsible for the smooth opening and closing of drawers, as well as the overall durability and longevity of the drawer unit. The most common types of drawer runners are side-mount, center-mount, and undermount, each with its own unique advantages.
Side-mount drawer runners are attached to the side of the drawer box and the inside of the cabinet box. They are easy to install and can support heavy loads, but they may not provide the most aesthetically pleasing appearance. Center-mount drawer runners are installed underneath the drawer box and in the center of the cabinet box. They are a good choice for smaller drawers and provide a clean, streamlined look, but they may not be as durable as other types of runners. Undermount drawer runners are installed underneath the drawer box and on the sides of the cabinet box. They are hidden from view and provide a smooth, quiet operation, but they are also the most expensive option.
When choosing drawer runners for your kitchen cabinets, it's important to consider factors such as load capacity, ease of installation, and the overall look and feel you want to achieve. Drawer runners come in a variety of materials, including metal, plastic, and wood, and can be designed to fit any drawer size or configuration. Ultimately, the right drawer runners will make your kitchen cabinets more functional and efficient, while also enhancing their appearance and durability.
