A filler strip is a narrow piece of wood or laminate used in kitchen cabinets to fill gaps between cabinet units, walls, or appliances. These strips are typically the same color or finish as the cabinets and are used to provide a seamless look to the cabinetry. Filler strips are an essential component of cabinet installation, and they are often used in conjunction with other cabinet accessories such as toe kicks and crown molding. They come in different widths, thicknesses, and lengths to accommodate different installation scenarios.
Filler strips can be used to achieve a custom look for cabinets by providing additional detail to the cabinetry. For example, a filler strip can be added to the front edge of a cabinet to create a frame or a raised panel effect. Alternatively, filler strips can be used to accommodate different cabinet sizes or to make up for discrepancies in wall measurements. They can also be used to create a seamless look when installing cabinets next to an uneven wall or an irregularly shaped appliance. Filler strips can be installed vertically or horizontally, depending on the desired effect.
In addition to their practical uses, filler strips can also be used to add aesthetic appeal to kitchen cabinets. They can be stained or painted to match the cabinet finish or used as a contrasting color or material to create a unique look. When used in conjunction with other cabinet accessories, filler strips can help tie together the overall design of the kitchen. Overall, filler strips are an essential component of cabinet installation that can help achieve a custom look while providing practical solutions to installation challenges.
